Read for the rule and the task
First identify what the question asks: what must happen, what happens first, which statement is supported, or which action is least appropriate. Then return to the passage and underline the rule, exception, time limit, or required sequence that answers that task.
Do not answer from real-world experience when the passage gives a specific rule. Written exams usually test whether you can apply the information provided, not whether you can argue for a different policy.
Build speed without skimming
Speed comes from recognizing structure, not from reading every sentence carelessly. Practice short passages, summarize the controlling rule in one sentence, and check whether your answer uses the exact facts provided.
When reviewing a miss, record the word or fact you overlooked. Repeated misses around qualifiers usually need a reading process change, not more vocabulary drills.
