FINANCIAL INFO SVCS AGENCY
The NYC Financial Information Services Agency - Office of Payroll Administration (FISA-OPA) has a vacancy for a NYCAPS Business Analyst.
The NYCAPS Business Analyst will be responsible for data/application analysis.
Tasks will include collaborating with the Business, Development, and Testing teams learning and documenting business processes.
The primary responsibilities of the NYCAPS Business Analyst will be to:
• Work with the multiple teams and help in creation of functional design documents. • Serve as a liaison between the Department of Education and other City of New York agencies. • Work on interfaces/reports between PeopleSoft and the other systems. • Work on reconciling data between multiple systems.
• Review functional specifications with technical staff during transition to technical design. • Work with the Testing team during systems testing phase. • Run simulations of the business event processing to ensure that software modifications have not introduced errors into the processes. • Coordinate user acceptance test activities with business users.
Preferred qualifications:
• Good knowledge and ability to write SQL. • Basic programming knowledge on any language e.g. C/C++/Java/PeopleCode/SQR. • Good understanding of systems development lifecycle methodologies. • Good communications skills (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills are required. • Ability to learn and understand new applications. • Working knowledge in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access). • Detail-oriented with the ability to follow directions. • Ability to learn, write, update and edit existing documentation. • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines and keep track of ongoing assignments. • Ability to work with a diverse team. • Ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff. • Knowledge of PeopleSoft is an additional bonus.

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above.
New York City Residency is not required for this position
