Common mistakes to avoid

  • Skipping electrical theory review because it feels unfamiliar. A small set of formulas and concepts (Ohm's Law, series vs. parallel) covers most of the calculation and diagram questions — the investment pays off quickly.
  • Answering situational judgment items from instinct instead of the specific safety procedure described in the passage. Safety-first, policy-consistent answers are almost always correct on this exam.

  • Assuming a supervisor's verbal permission overrides a written safety rule — it generally does not on this exam, and situational items are written to test exactly that assumption.
